The Long Beach Post and Long Beach Business Journal—publications of the Long Beach Journalism Initiative—were recognized as public charities by the state and federal government on Oct. 25, 2023.
The Initiative filed its application for tax-exempt status under government code 501(c)(3), on Nov. 20, 2023. Our application is pending approval.
During this time, donations to our organization will not be tax deductible. Once our application is approved, all donations will be tax deductible retroactive to Oct. 25, 2023.
The approval process can take several months, however we have filed an application for expedited consideration. We are hopeful our status will be approved by the end of 2023.
